miss independent

Sometimes, you’ll just have to face your fears to overcome.

This week, I just moved to an apartment together with my office mates. It frightened me at first for I’ve never been away from my dad, brother, and boyfriend.  I was always dependent to these three important men of my life and I just can’t bear not seeing them.

However, I must do what I have to do because living around the city means easy access to my school, office and church. It would also help me learn to stand on my own, budget my finances, pay my own bills, and do household chores.

It has been almost a year since I entertained the thought of moving. And I just woke up one day with this firm decision. Everyone in our crib was surprised for the decision was all so sudden. It’s like I just launched an atomic bomb! Nevertheless, they still helped me out and PACKING WAS HEARTBREAKING.  I want every single thing to move with me yet I had to pick those that are only important.

As we arrive to the apartment, I wasted no time and arrange my things.

I just love my shoes.. still in their respective shoe box.

currently, I'm still on my 3rd day in the apartment and I'm loving it although I still have some adjustments to do like sleeping in a smaller bed. =)

I have no regrets with this decision. In fact, I feel so blessed because I know that the Lord has his purpose for giving me this life's new chapter.

"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"...

1 plus 1, doubles the fun!

This page is dedicated to the twin sisters Chenny and Chicky Wong who are celebrating their 23rd birthday today!!!

A general stereotype of identical twins is that they are clones of another. Contrary to our previous beliefs, identical twins do not look alike, act alike, and are expected to be “identical”. The term “identical” only refers to the manner of how they were formed and not on their physical appearances.

As to how they’re formed, I might want to leave that on experts. Lol

Among the twins, it was Chenny that I’d known first. She’s my officemate and we became friends right away. She’s easy to get along with. It’s only almost one year since we formally meet one another, although I always saw her from the university we attended. I never thought we’ll be friends and I hope I’m credible enough to share something about the twins.

The twins chenny and chicky are the exact opposite of another. They differ on their facial features, interests, body type and a lot more. Chenny is a creature of extremes. She is the carefree, extrovert and on-the-go type of the girl. She loves going out with friends.

Meanwhile, Chicky is the home buddy for she loves staying at home and watching her favorite romantic movies. She’s introvert, silent, sweet, simple and that girl-next-door type.
The twins also differ in things randomly. Chenny’s passion is scrapbooking, her temperament is Sanguine, she likes color blue, brand conscious because its long-lasting. On the other hand, Chicky has passion for writing, she’s Phlegmatic, like color pink, girly and would prefer ukay-ukays.

But of course, the Wong twins have their similarities too. They both have cute chinky eyes, could be melancholic, they love THE CORRS, like eating. One commendable trait of the twins is that they are TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY IN LOVE WITH JESUS, even willing to exchange lavish life for their one true love. They do not have insecurities for they know so well that the Lord is with them in good and trying times.
Right now, I’m living with the twins in a very cute apartment we’re renting. I so love the girls.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADIES! You’re both beautiful inside and out.

P.S. I also got chinky eyes and Chinese blood. I could be their long, lost triplet. =)

what's in the name?

Barbeque is one of my favorites!
In this city, “Antipolo” and “You and I” are two of the most famed barbeque houses. Today, I was craving for it and so I asked my friends for dinner and we went to “You and I”. Its been decades since I last visited the place probably because  there’s been a lot of new restos sprouting like mushrooms. My friends and I love to try new places to eat and sometimes, we fell in love with that place and would visit it often. We would even befriend waiters and staff.  One time at Penong’s, we were given extra rice on every meal although we didn’t avail the unlimited rice they were advertising.

Furthermore, choosing a restaurant name is very essential to advertise the food you serve. It creates and reflect  meaning, theme, ambiance and impression to the customers. It’s also one way to market the business. In General Santos City, there are a lot of resto names that are just unique and creative. “Pahayahay” is for one, it’s a Cebuano term for relaxation. There’s also Asian Toungue, Goatbingan, Grab a Crab and the list go on.

However  today is different, I was so surprise and I cant help but laugh my heart out when I saw the new barbeque house that was erected near You and I.

In case you’re not familiar with the place, here’s the picture.

I don’t know the reason why they name their resto as such but with the bbq house beside them, I think I know why. Of all the names, they call the place “Together Again”.

I hope the owner of You and I didn’t find it insulting because it sure made us laugh.
YOU AND I, TOGETHER AGAIN. What more can I say. =)

P.S. these bbq houses should at least compensate me for advertising them. hihi

sweet misery

My first semester in law school is finally over!

Who would have thought that I could actually surpass everyday recitations, case digest here and there, and never-ending readings while working at night? I’m a travel agent, just so you know…

It is hard being a working student. Your reading time is very limited and so sometimes, I attend my classes unprepared. I’m always catching up with the discussions and appear muzzy most of the times.

However, I regard my situation as something on my advantage. For one, I can’t just take time for granted and I’ve learn to make out my priorities.

Or maybe, I learned studying the hard way…

Before our final examinations, SOCOTECO II is having tantrums and a blackout is hitting the town again. 10 hours of inconvenience is just unbearable.  I can’t just sit around my crib and do nothing while finals is approaching… (I love the rhyming... lol)

Great thing I’m an extrovert and studying with other people is never a problem. Another great thing is that I have classmates who are just like me. We went to coffee shops and 24-hour fastfood chains and read our fat and thick textbooks.

while am writing case digests...
the ex-Atenista Hiro, romantic Bai and hilarious Phoy
DJ Hannah.. serious much?
Brigada Jed, the sniper.. haha!
the rock n roll Dominique
Sir Rocky, our father, financier and class President =)
and the sweets! my ultimate stress reliever!

Studying is FUNtastic when you learn to love it and  misery when you take it as a burden. First semester had just ended and it’s still a long road to take.

Note to self: whenever you feel unmotivated, just remember this statement:

DURA LEX SED LEX

Dura lex sed lex is a legal maxim which stands for “The law is harsh, but it is the law”.

No! I will not discuss on the subject of LAW here. Not yet. This page will be about my dream of becoming a lawyer.

It was February of the previous year when I took the College of Law Entrance Exam. It was a big deal for me since I am really not so gifted. (Well, at least I look like one. Haha!) I was graded average on my early education and I am even a late bloomer. However, my edge is my positive outlook in life, balance self-esteem and faith in God. I am always certain of what I wanted to become in the future. Glory to God, I passed the exam and had an oral interview thereafter.

I am always confident with interviews. I like it more that written examinations. Yet this one petrifies me.

As my name was called, I walked to the door and entered the room. There I saw at least 5 male lawyers sitting behind a huge and long table, all eyes on me as I strode to the single chair fronting my interrogators.  In order to ease the tension, I greeted them with all clarity, confidence and sanguinity that I could muster. To my bolt from the blue, I receive no reaction. Not even a trace of smile on these lawyers. My face turned red. It was one of the most awkward moments I’ve ever experience.

Long silence….

And finally! The attorney sitting in the middle told me to take my seat. He took my profile, read it and started asking questions.

 Interrogating…

Terrorizing…

The question that struck me the most is still from the same attorney seated in the center.

“Do you think you’re beautiful?” he sarcastically asked.

That keeps me on my toes.

Humbly, I replied “I’m not blowing my own trumpet sir but yes! I think I’m beautiful”

Tsadaaaa!! They all smiled at me. The first ray of light!

“Yes. I think you’re beautiful inside and out.” was the reply.

Then, he handed me a sheet of paper with the requirements for enrollment. I was the happiest that moment.

Sometime in June, I enrolled to the university. I am a certified law student!

At home, everybody is calling me attorney. My dad, friends, relatives and even my neighbors. It feels like I just passed the bar.

Days passed. Another school year started but not yet in law school .I was just waiting… waiting… and then…

I went on the first day of class with all of my high hopes tuck in. I was really excited. New environment, new people and a whole new endeavor…

I felt nothing but fun, excitement and enthusiasm on the first week. We get to introduce to higher years, found our buddies, law fraternities courting, invitations here and there…

Until the second week…

THE REAL BATTLE COMMENCES… SKIRMISH OF WITS AND BRAINS.

That week was a struggle. We formally meet our professors. The lawyer seated on the center during my interview was my professor on one subject. They laid down their rules and expectations from us. Each of them varies in their style of teaching. Some are like terrorist, others are like a godfather and there’s one making us meditate before his class. Then, they gave us cases and loads of readings. We didn’t know what to do and where to start. Most of us are cramming for the upcoming recitations.

Then, we got used to it. Law books became my best friend and reading had been my past time. I’m used to reading though. I love to read. But, there’s a huge difference from leisure reading and understanding the law.
And so, my life has changed since then. I only have 6 hours of sleep a day, I can’t go malling and watching movies as much as I want like I used to do. But, through it all, I’ve become more studious and responsible.

Indeed, law school is hard! But with the Lord, all things are possible.

There’s a cliché yet honest thought that says- when you dream, make it big. Really big.

So, let me rephrase my earlier statement. I just don’t want to become a lawyer stuck in the four walls of an air-conditioned office. Instead, I’d like to be the most feared female lawyer in the country. Hard but achievable.

It’s funny that before, whenever asked why I wanted to be a lawyer, I just thought its kick ass! However, as I become mature, my perception and view about lawyers had changed. They aren’t just for courtroom but in every aspect of life as well because there’s always a law that guides us from womb to tomb.

Hopefully, I will live that dream and become a lawyer.

Someday… somewhere… somehow…

As for now, I just have to enjoy all the drama and challenges in this new endeavor.  This hardship will eventually benefit the community.

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going…

SUMMER is F-U-N

SUMMER is definitely spelled as F-U-N!!!

As in Free and Unlimited Night outs, Naag, Nahuway..
Just kidding…
April is indeed fun since classes are out and it’s the time where we could spend much, much time with our families and friends… A time where we could ditch our paper works guilt free. A time where we can explore and do worthwhile things as well

I have listed here some of the few things to help you keep busy and have fun at the same time this SUMMER.

1.  Working Out

Want to have that gorgeous body you’ve always wanted? It’s time to get out of your crib and work those fats out of your system. Go to gym or go swimming. Either way, I’m sure it’ll be fun and self-satsfying…

 2.  Reading Leisure Books
Are you fed up reading scholarly books from school and offices? Give yourself a break this summer… Go to your nearest bookshop and grab the book that you’re dying to read a long time ago. Read and write something about it too! I recommend that you read Narnia. (I have e-books for that, just PM me if you want a copy)

3.  Do your favorite craft!
You have all the time in the world now to express yourself through art.
Examples are scrapbooking, cross stitching, painting and my favorite NAIL ART! I’d be posting some of my designs soon…

4.  Cooking and Baking
Take advantage of your time this summer and learn a new recipe. You may want to make a lot though. All your family and friends are there to be the tasters. Best of luck!

5.  Nature Tripping
Feel like doing extremes this summer? Organize a mountain climbing and/or water tubing with your friends and be amazed by the beauty of nature.
Spots:
For climbing- Klaja, Conel. General Santos City. No entrance fee. Guide fee only
Php 300.00 each guide/day. Good for 8-15 persons.
For water tubing- New La Union, Maasim, Sarangani Province. Php 150/person.

6.   JOIN A CELL!!!
Cell (from your Bio class) is the smallest unit of our body. A church is also consists of its small groups called cell. Cell groups is where we talked about Jesus, meet new friends, sing and dance, and have fun at the same time. It’s a cool way to get to know more about the Lord and be blessed.

Interested?

P.S.
Bring camera with you wherever you go, whatever you do and capture every moments this summer. In short, take pictures!!!! =) I’ll do mine =)

the beginning...

So, this is what you call history… this is just a simple blog but I’d like to tell you first thing first how I came up with this idea and why I’d like to express my thoughts here and so on..

It’s Holy Thursday! I woke up and did my usual, everyday routine which is praying, reading the bible, writing the revelations on my journal (we call that DEVOTIONALS), eating breakfast or lunch, then checking my Facebook account…

As you know, Facebook always asks us same question everyday… “what’s on your mind?”
Sanguine as I am, I have this impulsive nature where I wrote things on my account faster than my brain could even figure it out... know what I mean? It’s like I speak then I think… or my mouth speaks faster than my brain.. *grin*

But today is different; I stared at the question for a long time…

Then it left me speechless…

Not that I don’t have anything on my mind. In fact, I had so many things inside that I wanted to share but I just don’t know where to start and which specific thought will I be sharing… haha
And then the idea of scribbling these thoughts crossed my mind. I went back to my room and grab my new notebook and pink pen. I started writing my thoughts.

And then I stopped…

Come on! We’re the so called computer generation where everything is modernized yet here I am doing the old fashioned way of writing…

I wanted it the techno way… hahaha!

So, I decided to make my own blog and have my thoughts, ideas, and opinions read by not just one, two, or three persons but as far as the internet could reach…
I wanted to inspire people. Influence them. And most of all, to be an instrument for them to know more about J-E-S-U-S! =)
